Intro
Hi everyone! I started researching WLS not long ago. I attended the seminar at WeightWise on 5/3 and had my first meeting with Dr Walton on 5/8. The best part so far was attending my first support group on 5/15. I came away from it very excited to move forward. I was on the fence as to which surgery but have settled on the VSG. I am scheduled for my sleep study on 5/26. I also have one additional thing to check into -- I am a hemophilia carrier so need to have levels checked and follow up with a hematologist to make sure there is no increased risk of bleeding during (or after) surgery. I have already lost 4 of the 14 lbs I am required to lose before surgery! I hope to have everything in order before I meet with Dr Walton again at the end of June.
Hi Nancy,
So nice to meet you! I had my sleep study done last week and flunked it lol. I am suppossed to get my c-pap tomorrow. Good luck with the rest of your tests. I hope they all go well! There are a couple of us owloer's that are going to have to go and try the weight wise support group. They sound like so much fun. Congrats on the 4 lbs that is great! There is so much support on this site that it is unreal. It is the best one around! Just wanted to say hello and welcome. I hope to join all these other okies on the bench too.
God Bless and have a great week!!

Dr Walton required me to have a sleep study too and I have mild sleep apnea. I got my CPAP on 4/9. I never wanted to admit I might have apnea much less wear this dumb thing. But guess what? I'm getting along with it very well and, dare I say, kinda like it. I breath so much better and don't wake up nearly as many times during the night. The best thing is that I can now go to sleep while my DH watches TV - something I could not do before. I agree with edthecat - it ain't pretty! Kinda like have a serpent attached to your face while you sleep. But it works! And now my brain and heart are getting the oxygen they want and need.
Can I offer a tip? The best mask out there is called the Swift. My husband, sister and nephew all have apnea and all swear by the Swift. I let the medical supply company give me something different only to force them to give me the Swift 2 days later. If you google it, you can see that it places the hose in a place where you can get it out of your way to sleep. Man, sounds like I work for them. I don't but I probably could!
Anyway, good luck to all. I will be so much for helpful and smart in a week because I'll be on the LOSER'S BENCH!!!!!
Ok Missy,
You stop bragging about being on that bench before me!! Lol Thank you for the info! I could really use it. My husband is going to be giving me a hard time about that thing teasing me. I told him he needs one too. I also told him I would share it he could wear it one day and I would wear it the next. He said no way. lol Have a great rest of the week and again congrats on making your weight!!! I am proud of you!
